Dear friends and family,
It is with great joy that we share with you our news of the champions in our family!
Dale raced in the YWMA triathalon last Sat. Aug. 28th and swam 500 yards, biked 10 miles and then ran 3 miles in 1 hr. 3 min. 56 seconds! Some young guys with fancy bikes came from Lincoln and Omaha to race, so Dale got 4th overall. But the YMCA gave him the prize of being the local champion (the fastest time of all the competitors who are members of the Y.) So once again, we were pretty proud of Dale and his diligence in exercise! Way to go, Dale!
On the same day, Laura competed in the NW Kansas Bible Bee and scored a total of 888 points out of a possible 900! She had a perfect oral round, reciting 25 passages correctly (randomly chosen from a list of 800 verses.) Then she earned a score of 588/600 on the written exam (covering the content of the 800 verses and the book of First Peter.) Currently Laura is tied for 2nd place of all the competitors who qualified for the National Bible Bee! She will be working hard, reviewing the 800 verses plus learning 300 more, and also studying Second Peter in preparation for the National Bible Bee. The contest will be held in Nashville, TN from Nov. 16 - 19th and the prizes for the top 3 finishers add up to over $100,000.
We are all proud of Laura's hard work and diligence, while at the same time, recognizing the special gift God has given her. It is not everyone who enjoys keeping track of all the a's, an's, and the's of Bible passages!
That's all for now! Enjoy September, everyone!
