We took a quick trip to Denver to attend our niece's baby's baptism, and so we took one day to explore God's creation in the area of Mt. Evans, about 30 minutes west of Denver. God blessed us with beautiful weather (70* at the bottom and about 50* near the top) and we had a wonderful time.
We took these first two photos on the drive up Mt. Evans. Beautiful views of God's creation!
Here are the kids playing at Echo Lake, at the base of Mt. Evans (but still after we had driven 14 miles up into the mountains!)

Dale and Anna (and Isaac below) in the bristlecone pine forest. These trees are approx. 1,500 years old and when they grow, their trunks twist to make them stronger so they can survive the winter winds on the mountains.
The trees were so strange and yet beautiful and rugged. It was great to be able to walk among these odd trees. What an interesting creation God has made for us to enjoy!
