Big Changes for Josh

We have some big changes coming our way......Josh is going to attend a Lutheran High School this fall! He'll be a junior at Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School in Waco, Nebraska. It is a boarding school with about 80 students in grades 9 - 12. He will be coming home on the weekends, however. It is a college-prep school with a heavy emphasis on Christianity. He will attend chapel in the mornings and after supper, and have a Christian religion class daily. He will be able to continue in Spanish, be on a speech team, and even play soccer in the spring! We're all excited for Josh and pray that this will be a wonderful, growing experience for him.

Why no more homeschooling for Josh? Well it is a complicated situation (as every child is unique....) but basically, Josh could use more help in the upper maths and sciences. It was just too challenging for him to teach himself this past year (with occasional help from me.) This has been a big change mentally for me....I thought we would homeschool all our kids all the way through. But over time, God has slowly showed us that Josh needs a change, and we're trusting Him that this is the right change. So far, God has opened many doors for Josh to attend this fall. Are all our kids going to do this? Not at this point. Laura is doing well in homeschool and enjoys working by herself. We'll just take it one year at a time.

In other news, Laura is just finishing up four weeks at Lutheran Summer Music Academy in Decorah, Iowa. She has concerts at the end of this week in handbells, a small ensemble of a girls' choir, concert choir, and her principal instrument, organ. She has been practicing 2 hours a day on the organ. We are all excited to see her again and hear her play the organ! The girls and I are driving to Decorah this weekend to hear her perform, and Dale and the boys are going to Lincoln to watch Dale swim in the Cornhusker State Games. Should be exciting! Dale has been doing well in swimming and is excited for some more serious competition.

We're going to MN at the end of July to go camping with Dale's parents on the north shore of Lake Superior. We've been looking forward to this for months and are so excited to see northern MN and spend time with family. Then we'll be at my mom's farm for a week, going to FarmFest and seeing some old friends in MN.

God has been very good to our family! We are so blessed with times of refreshment in MN and other places this summer. Thank you God for your good gifts to us! May we always be grateful!
